Agumon: The Ultimate Fire Dinosaur Digimon

March 10, 2010

Agumon is the main Digimon in Digimon Adventure, the first Digimon anime series. Agumon’s personality is extremely brave, relaxed, and funny. Being partnered to the leader of the eight DigiDestined featured in Adventure, Agumon is a decisive factor in many battles. He is always the first of the partner Digimon to Digivolve into a stronger form. Agumon is also one of only two partner Digimon to Digivolve to the Mega level, the highest and strongest form a Digimon can attain. (Yamato “Matt” Ishida’s partner Gabumon is the other Digimon to reach Mega.)[1]

Agumon plays a major role in the Digimon Adventure movie Our War Game!. (This film was combined with Digimon Adventure (Movie) and Digimon Hurricane Touchdown/Supreme Evolution! The Golden Digimentals to make the English language Digimon: The Movie.) In it, Agumon and Tai teams up with Matt, Gabumon, Tentomon (partner of Izzy Izumi), and Patamon (partner of T. K. Takaishi) to enter the Internet to battle Infermon, an evil Digimon who had taken residence there. (Digimon are made of data and can enter electronic communication networks at will; DigiDestined are temporarily converted to data for this purpose.) Eventually, Infermon was defeated when WarGreymon (Agumon’s Mega form) DNA Digivolved with MetalGarurumon (Gabumon’s Mega) to form Omnimon.

Agumon in episode 11 of Digimon Adventure 02, (The Storm of Friendship).

In Digimon Adventure 02 new DigiDestined were chosen to defend the Digital World. Agumon was no longer a main character, although he made intermittent appearances throughout the series. His most notable contribution was to begin the chain of events that led to Veemon (the new main Digimon) obtaining Raidramon, one of his Armor Digivolved forms. Agumon was temporarily held captive by the Digimon Emperor,[2] the evil persona of the DigiDestined actually named Ken Ichijouji. He was forced to Dark Digivolve to SkullGreymon and a possessed MetalGreymon.[3] Veemon and his partner Davis Motomiya unlocked Veemon’s Raidramon form during the battle to free Agumon.

Attacks

  • Pepper Breath/Pepper Flame/Spit Fire Blast (Baby Flame): Shoots an orange and red fireball of varying strength from his mouth.

Other forms

The name “Agumon” refers only to the Rookie form of this Digimon. Throughout the series, Agumon gains the ability to Digivolve into a number of more powerful forms, each with a different name and special attack. However, the Rookie level is his preferred form and the one he spends most of his time in, due to the amount of energy required to stay in a higher form.

Botamon

Botamon (ボタモン)

Botamon is Agumon’s Fresh form, an infant Digimon. Its name is derived from the Womb (『母胎』 “Botai”?).

Botamon is a small (about one foot tall) Digimon with black hair covering his body, yellow eyes, and two small bumps on the top of his head (resembling ears). His mouth is covered by his hair and is not visible unless it is opened.

He appears once in the episode “The Ultimate Clash” during a flashback where he is seen hatching from Agumon’s Digi-Egg.[4] (These Digi-Eggs are the eggs that all Digimon hatch from - a different type of Digi-Egg can be used to trigger Armor Digivolution.) His voicework was done by Brianne Siddall.

Botamon is also seen in the Digimon movie. His voice-work there, however, was done by Peggy O’Neal.

Attacks

  • Bubble Blow (Acid Bubbles): Fires harmless pink bubbles from his mouth.

Koromon

Koromon (コロモン)

Koromon is Agumon’s In-Training form. The name “Koromon” derives from the Japanese word “korokoro“, meaning “something small, round, and rolling“. He is a pink, ball-shaped Digimon with floppy ears, bright-red eyes and sharp teeth. In Digimon Adventure-Adventure 02, he is voiced by Brianne Siddall (US) and Chika Sakamoto (Japan).

Agumon was in this form in “And So it Begins” when he first met his partner, Tai Kamiya. After his initial Digivolution to Agumon to help battle a wild Kuwagamon, the Rookie level became his preferred form.[5] From then on, Agumon temporarily reverted to Koromon only when he ran out of energy in a higher level and could not sustain his Rookie form.

Koromon is also seen in the Digimon Movie.

Attacks

  • Bubble Blow (Acid Bubbles): Fires slightly more harmful pink bubbles from his mouth than his previous state.

Greymon

Greymon (グレイモン)

Greymon is Agumon’s Champion form. He is closely modeled after the classic flat-footed, upright depiction of a theropod dinosaur. He mostly looks like the dinosaur Carcharodontosaurus He has well-muscled abdominals and forearms, orange skin with blue stripes, and a brown helmet that encases his head that has an antler-like horn on each side and a single horn on the nose. Greymon is approximately 15 to 20 feet tall, though in Digimon: The Movie, the first Greymon seen is much larger, reaching possibly 100 ft tall, due to digivolving from a bigger version of Agumon. This Greymon was not the same one who appeared in the series. The name “Greymon” comes from a misspelling of the English word “great”. In Digimon Adventure-Adventure 02, he is voiced by Michael Lindsay (US), Bob Papenbrook (US, Movie), and Chika Sakamoto (Japan).

Agumon first Digivolved to Greymon in the episode “The Birth Of Greymon” to battle a wild Shellmon in Digimon Adventure.[6] Thereafter, Greymon appears many times in the series to help fight against various enemies; examples include Devimon, Etemon and Myotismon.

In Digimon Adventure 02, he was once taken control of by the Digimon Emperor with a Dark Ring, a black metal ring the Emperor developed to subjugate various Digimon. In an unsuccessful attempt to get him to Digivolve to MetalGreymon, the Emperor made him Dark Digivolve to SkullGreymon.[7]

Attacks

  • Nova Blast/Nova Flame (Mega Flame): Fires a giant blast of fire from his mouth to incinerate his enemies. In the Digimon Movie however, Nova Flame as it is called is a more concentrated continuous blast of white fire.

MetalGreymon

MetalGreymon (メタルグレイモン)

MetalGreymon is Agumon’s Ultimate form. Physically, he resembles a larger Greymon with metallic head armor, red hair, metal wings, a trident-like left arm, and twin missile launchers on his chest. He is about 20–30 feet tall. “Metal” is added to his name due to the cyborg-like portions of his body. In Digimon Adventure-Adventure 02, he is voiced by Joseph Pilato (US), and Chika Sakamoto (Japan).

Greymon first Digivolved to MetalGreymon in “The Earthquake of Metalgreymon” to battle Etemon. Just prior to the Digivolution, Tai had displayed a sufficient amount of courage when he saved Sora from a Datamon that was holding her and Biyomon captive. Tai’s Crest of Courage activated and Greymon Digivolved to MetalGreymon, who was sucked into a dimensional warp with Tai that sent them to the Real World and destroyed Etemon. After he (as Agumon) and Tai returned to the Digital World, he made several more appearances to battle various enemies, including ShogunGekomon and Devidramon. The two battles he lost were against Myotismon and the Dark Masters.

MetalGreymon under the control of the Digimon Emperor

In Digimon Adventure 02, Agumon digivolved into the evil, blue-skinned, virus version of MetalGreymon under the control of the Digimon Emperor. He was used to attack the new DigiDestined, as well as Tai and Matt Ishida. During this battle Davis Motomiya, the new DigiDestined’s leader, obtained his Digi-Egg of Friendship. This allowed his partner, Veemon, to Armor Digivolve to Raidramon to break MetalGreymon’s Dark Spiral, the device that was compelling MetalGreymon to obey the Emperor’s orders. Free from the Spiral’s influence, he reverted to Agumon.

He returned again during the World Tour, where, alongside MagnaAngemon, he defeated the Mamemon brothers. His final appearance was against Skullsatamon. However, he was drained of energy after the prolonged absence from the digital world and reverted to Agumon mid battle.

Attacks

  • Giga Blaster (Giga Destroyer): Fires two fish-shaped missiles from his chest, similar to MetalGarurumon’s Giga Missile.
  • Mega Claw (Trident Arm): Shoots his metal claw off his arm, slashing or wrapping up enemies.

SkullGreymon

SkullGreymon (スカルグレイモン)

SkullGreymon is an alternate Ultimate form of Greymon, but its power could be likened to that of a Mega Digimon. The “skull” prefix in his name refers to his body, which is fleshless and entirely composed of bone. A missile lies on his back that is shaped like a shark. SkullGreymon is a destructive and uncontrollable Digimon that results when Greymon is induced to Digivolve incorrectly. In Digimon Adventure-Adventure 02, he is voiced by Doug Erholtz (US), and Chika Sakamoto (Japan).

In the episode, “The Arrival of Skullgreymon” Tai desperately wanted Greymon to Digivolve further when he gained his Crest of Courage, an object that would help Greymon obtain his next level. When the evil Etemon confined Tai and the other DigiDestined children in a colosseum, he forced Tai’s Greymon to battle a wild Greymon. Tai purposefully threw himself in front of the evil Greymon to make his partner Digivolve. (The partner Digimon gained new levels primarily when their DigiDestined were put into mortal danger.) This caused Greymon to Dark Digivolve into SkullGreymon,[8] who easily defeated the enemy Greymon. However, he attacked Birdramon (Biyomon’s Champion form and the partner of Sora Takenouchi), Garurumon (Gabumon’s Champion) and Kabuterimon (Tentomon’s Champion) and fled the colosseum. Exhausted, he reverted to Koromon.

This experience shows how the mental state of a DigiDestined can affect the way his/her partner will Digivolve. Each of the DigiDestined in Adventure were bestowed personality traits (in Tai’s case, Courage) that they had to display to unlock their Digimon’s Ultimate levels. Tai had been exhibiting a selfish kind of courage during Greymon’s battle, which caused Greymon to Digivolve into the wrong Ultimate.

SkullGreymon makes another appearance in Digimon Adventure 02. When the Digimon Emperor took control of Greymon with a Dark Ring, he tried to force him to Digivolve into MetalGreymon. The result was the corrupt Digivolution that had Greymon Digivolve to SkullGreymon for a second time. Skullgreymon defeated the new DigiDestined with just mere hits, however he managed to defeat one Meramon, some Airdramon and a big group of DarkTyrannomon and destroying a Control Spire with his Dark Shot. The Emperor took him back to his base where he attempted to trigger the correct Digivolution several times as well as find a way to control SkullGreymon (It would be wise to control this more powerful version of MetalGreymon) until he managed to get Greymon to become an evil version of MetalGreymon by using a Dark Spiral (created of 3 Dark Rings joined together).

Attacks

  • Dark Shot (Ground Zero): Fires the fish missile on his back like the Rocket Launcher.

WarGreymon

WarGreymon (ウォーグレイモン)

WarGreymon is Agumon’s Mega form, possessing the “war” prefix due to his offensive capabilities. He is a humanoid version of Greymon with metal armor (Chrome Digizoid) encasing his head, shoulders, abdominals and legs. He is capable of independent flight - the wing-like projections on his back form his Brave Shield that he removes and uses to block attacks. WarGreymon has two large clawed gauntlets called Dramon Destroyers permanently attached to each arm. However, they have been known to crack occasionally during an intense fight, and on one instance they even broke completely off (when fighting Diaboromon). He is an extremely powerful Mega Digimon. In Digimon Adventure-Adventure 02, he is voiced by Lex Lang (US), and Chika Sakamoto (Japan).

WarGreymon made his initial appearance in “Prophecy” (along with MetalGarurumon) in Adventure during the battle with VenomMyotismon, who had infiltrated the Real World and intended to take it over along with the Digital World. Tai and Matt (partner to Gabumon, MetalGarurumon’s primary form) allowed themselves to be struck by arrows from Angewomon (the Ultimate form of Gatomon, Kari Kamiya’s partner) and Angemon (Patamon’s Champion) in accordance with an ancient prophecy. Tai and Matt remained unharmed; the shot arrows gave Agumon and Gabumon the necessary energy to Warp Digivolve to Mega and destroy VenomMyotismon.[1]

When the Dark Masters Digimon took over the Digital World, WarGreymon fought and destroyed the first and third members that attacked the DigiDestined, MetalSeadramon and Machinedramon and with MetalGarurumon’s and MagnaAngemon’s help defeated the final Dark Master, Piedmon. WarGreymon was one of the Digidestined’s primary fighters and often looked to as the one of the leaders of the group, often leading the digiteam in attack formation.

In Digimon Adventure 02 WarGreymon appeared twice in the series, the first time was to battle his doppelgänger and the series’ anti-hero Digimon BlackWarGreymon. The fight was a dead heat until Imperialdramon Fighter Mode intervened.[9]

In his second appearance in the following episode, he was there when BlackWarGreymon was mortally wounded and held him up while trying to get him to save his strength.

Attacks

  • Terra Force (Gaia Force): Collects energy from his surroundings to form a large ball of energy which he then fires at his opponent. This is his signature attack. In the English dub this attack is randomly called “Nova Force”.
  • Mega Claw (Dramon Killer): Slashes Digimon with his Dramon Destroyers.
  • Great Tornado (Brave Tornado) Spins at the speed of a tornado and rips through the enemy. In the English dub this attack is sometimes randomly called “Terra Force” or “Mega Claw”.

Omnimon

Omnimon (オメガモン Omegamon)

Omnimon is the Digimon that results when WarGreymon and MetalGarurumon DNA Digivolve together to create a stronger Digimon. His body is entirely covered in white armor adorned with black, blue and yellow markings. His left arm ends in WarGreymon’s head and his right arm with MetalGarurumon’s, giving him two primary attacks (Transcendent Sword and Supreme Cannon). The cape he wears flows over the width of his body.

The name “Omnimon” is derived from “omni”, a Latin prefix meaning “all”. His Japanese name, “Omegamon“, derives from the “omega“, the last letter of the Greek alphabet. Also, because of his relationship with Alphamon, he and Alphamon are supposed to represent Alpha and Omega.

His first appearance is in the second Digimon Adventure film, Our War Game!. WarGreymon and MetalGarurumon had tried unsuccessfully to defeat Diaboromon, a Digimon they followed into the Internet to prevent him from consuming all its data. When Tai and Matt were accidentally transported inside the Internet they gave their spiritual energy to their Digimon so that they could win - Omnimon formed and defeated Diaboromon.

In the second Digimon Adventure 02 movie, Revenge of Diaboromon, Omnimon reformed when the DigiDestined discovered that Diaboromon survived the first battle and returned to the Internet. Omnimon destroyed what he thought was Diaboromon but found that the battle had been a trap - he had been fighting a decoy that exploded to reveal the innumerable Kuramon that were sealed inside. After wreaking havoc in the Real World all of them fused to form Armageddemon, who Omnimon fought, but when he used his surpreme cannon to blow a hole in his forehead, Armageddemon shot out laser whips from the hole that defeated Omnimon. He gave his energy to Imperialdramon Fighter Mode (a more powerful version of Imperialdramon, the Mega Digimon formed when Veemon and Ken Ichijouji’s partner Wormmon DNA Digivolve), who permanently destroyed Armageddemon when he Mode Changed into Imperialdramon Paladin Mode.

Attacks

  • Transcendent Sword (Grey Sword): Slashes with the Grey Sword which emerges from the WarGreymon head hand.
  • Supreme Cannon (Garuru Cannon): Fires colossal energy balls at foes from a cannon the emerges from the MetalGarurumon head hand.
  • Omni Blaster (Omega Blast): Charges fire energy from both of his hands. This is his most powerful attack.

Piyomon: The Fire Bird Digimon

Biyomon first appears in her In-Training form, Yokomon. She first Digivolves to her rookie form when the DigiDestined were attacked by Kuwagamon. Biyomon later Digivolves into Birdramon, and then with Sora’s Crest of Love, into Garudamon. In the Japanese version of the anime, Biyomon often talks in the 3rd person. Saying “Sora is” where one would normally say “You are”, and also referring to herself in a third person tone.

Biyomon also appears in the sequel season Digimon Adventure 02. In this season, Biyomon had lost the power to Digivolve into Garudamon. When the Digimon Emperor was conquering the Digital World, Biyomon was among the old generation Digimon who helped the new Digi-Destined team out. Like many of the first generation Digi-Destined, she became the protector of a certain area in the Digital World. Biyomon later appears in the real world in Christmas Day as a “present” for the original Digi-Destined organized by Davis and the other newer Digi-Destined. With the power from Azulongmon’s Digi-Cores, she gains the ability to Digivolve to ultimate again.

Attacks

  • Spiral Twister (Magical Fire): Biyomon flaps her wings and creates a green flame, which is shot out as a spiraling inferno.

Other forms

The name “Biyomon” refers only to the Rookie form of this Digimon. Throughout the series, Biyomon gains the ability to Digivolve into a number of more powerful forms, each with a different name and special attack. However, the Rookie level is her preferred form and the one she spends most of her time in, due to the amount of energy required to stay in a higher form.

Nyokimon

Nyokimon (ニョキモン)

Nyokimon is Biyomon’s Fresh form. Nyokimon is a small black seed with green leaves sprouting out of its head. Its name comes from the Japanese word “nyokinyoki“, meaning “plants sprouting one after another”.

Nyokimon appears in Digimon Adventure as Biyomon’s Fresh form during a flashback of when the Digi-Eggs first hatched on File Island.

Attacks

  • Seed Cracker

Yokomon

Yokomon (ピョコモン Pyocomon)

Yokomon is Biyomon’s In-Training form. The name “Yokomon” comes from “Youkou“, a Japanese word describing a bluish-greenish color. Yokomon is like a radish with a bluish-yellow flower on her head.

Biyomon was in this form on “And So It Begins” when she first met Sora. Yokomon soon Digivolved to Biyomon to protect Sora from Kuwagamon. From then on, Yokomon only appeared when Biyomon was De-Digivolving from Garudamon or when shes pretending to be a stuffed animal to conceal their secret.

Attacks

  • Bubble Blow:{Acid Bubbles} Fires harmless small bubbles from her mouth.

Birdramon

Birdramon (バ-ドラモン )

Birdramon is a phoenix-like bird who is Biyomon’s Champion form. Biyomon Digivolved into Birdramon for the first time in the episode “Biyomon Gets Firepower” to defend the Yokomon Village from a Meramon who was controlled by a Black Gear. She also appeared to fight against Devimon, Etemon, Myotismon and the Dark Masters. Biyomon digivolves again to Birdramon in Digimon Adventure 02 to help destroy the Digimon Emperor’s Control Spires. In Digimon Adventure-Adventure 02, she is voiced by Melodee Spevack (US), and Atori Shigematsu (Japan).

Attacks:

  • Meteor Wing: Birdramon throws out small fireballs from her wings.

Garudamon

Garudamon (ガルダモン)

Garudamon is Biyomon’s Ultimate form. Her name is derived from the mythological Hindu creature Garuda. Garudamon debuted when Myotismon made himself known to the DigiDestined. In Digimon Adventure-Adventure 02, she is voiced by Melodee Spevack (US), and Atori Shigematsu (Japan).

On “Sora’s Crest of Love” Biyomon, weakened from DemiDevimon’s dart, was determined to protect Sora. Sora’s refusal to allow her to fight made her realize that she did know what love was and that she felt it for Biyomon and her mom. When Birdramon was hit by Myotismon’s Crimson Lightning Attack, Sora ran towards her shouting, “Birdramon, No, I love you!” This caused her crest to glow and Birdramon was able to digivolve to Garudamon, who managed to stop Myotismon and allowed the other Digi-Destined to escape. When they fought the Dark Masters, it was Garudamon who destroyed Puppetmon’s Hammer

When Sora used the crest power to free the Digimon Sovereigns, Biyomon lost the power to become Garudamon until three years later, when Azulongmon gave one of his DigiCores to the DigiDestined Digimon. This allowed them to Digivolve to their ultimate forms again. Garudamon appeared this time in Moscow to help the Russian DigiDestined fight against a swarm of Flymon and a stampede of Mammothmon.

Attacks

  • Wing Blade (Shadow Wing): Garudamon uses her wings and fires a bird-shaped flame at her opponent.
  • Phoenix Claw: Garudamon grabs the opponent with her hands.

Patamon; The Heaven’s Prince Digimon

Patamon is a Rookie Level Mammal Digimon. He is a small flying creature resembling a hamster, with bat-like wings instead of ears. Even though he is able to fly across the sky using his ears, he is able to walk much quicker as his flight speed is 1km per hour. Because the sight of him flying desperstely is very cute, he is very popular, although he thinks that it’s a different reason all together. Patamon is a descendant of an ancient race who stored secret holy power internally. He also as ancient digimon who capable digivolve into Armor level. Patamon has a complete Digivolution line from Poyomon (Fresh) to Seraphimon (Mega).

Patamon is a main character in Digimon Adventure and Digimon Adventure 02, as well as the movies Digimon Adventure (The movie), Our War Game!, The Golden Digimentals and Diaboromon Strikes Back. Patamon can be seen as one of the most important Digimon throughout the first season, because without him Devimon would never have been defeated and Myotismon would have killed Kari and Piedmon would have won the final battle.

Patamon is the playful Digimon partner of T.K.. In Digimon Adventure, Patamon was the last of the Digi-Destined Digimon to achieve his Champion form, and the last again to achieve his Ultimate form. However, both his Champion and Ultimate forms are immensely powerful for their respective level, and are responsible for defeating Devimon and the final Dark Master, Piedmon respectively.

T.K. returns as a main character in the second Digimon Adventure 02 season, as does Patamon. Because of the Digimon Emperor’s control spires, Patamon was no longer able to Digivolve into his Champion form, and instead fought in his Armor form - Pegasusmon.

In the series, Patamon has a childish, sensitive personality.

Attacks

  • Boom Bubble (Air Shot): Patamon’s body inflates as he gulps in air - which he then shoots forward from his mouth.
  • Slamming Attack (Body Slam): Patamon charges at his enemy attempting to knock them out (This attack is very rarely used).

  Other Forms

The name “Patamon” refers to only the Rookie form of this Digimon. Throughout the series, Patamon gains the ability to Digivolve into a number of more powerful forms (each with a different name). However, the Rookie form remains as the most common and preferred form, due to the amount of energy required to stay in a higher form.

Poyomon

Poyomon (ポヨモン?)

Poyomon is Patamon’s Fresh form. Poyomon’s name comes from the Japanese word “poyon”, an adjective which means “soft and mushy”. In Digimon Adventure-Adventure 02’s American version, he is voiced by Peggy O’Neal.

After Angemon sacrificed himself to defeat Devimon, Patamon’s data was reconfigured into a Digi-Egg. As the DigiDestined departed for the Continent of Server, the Digi-Egg hatched into Patamon’s Fresh form Poyomon.

Attacks

  • Bubble Blow (Acid Bubbles): An attack that fires bubbles from the mouth.

Tokomon

Tokomon (トコモン?)

Tokomon is the In-Training form of Patamon. The name “Tokomon” comes from “tokoton“, a Japanese word meaning “the very last”.

T.K. first meets Tokomon immediately upon his arrival into the Digital World, and the two formed a strong bond very quickly. Tokomon later digivolves into Patamon when the DigiDestined children were in danger from Kuwagamon. When Patamon is reconfigured after the battle with Devimon, he hatches as Poyomon and digivolves to this form again in the Koromon Village.

While he normally appears to be harmless and cute, it is notable that when in danger Tokomon will open his mouth, which reveals layers of huge shark-like fangs, first displayed when attacking Kuwagamon during the first episode of Digimon Adventures.

Attacks

  • Bubble Blow (Acid Bubbles): An attack that involves firing bubbles from the mouth.

Angemon

.

Angemon (エンジェモン Enjemon?)

Angemon is the Champion form of Patamon. Angemon is a six-winged angel dressed in white and blue clothing. Like many other humanoid-like Digimon, such as Angewomon, Kazemon, and Silphymon; his eyes are covered by his helmet and are never seen, giving him the appearance of a blind prophet. In Digimon Adventure-Adventure 02, he is voiced by Dave Mallow (US) and Miwa Matsumoto (Japan).

Angemon appears for the first time during the final fight against Devimon. Devimon had already defeated the other six DigiDestined and their partner Digimon, and when he attempted to grab T.K., Patamon jumped in front of T.K. and finally Digivolved into his Champion form Angemon. In a final desperate attempt to defeat Devimon, Angemon sacrificed himself. Angemon was reborn as a Digi-Egg, eventually hatching to become Patamon again.

The second appearance of Angemon occurred in the Real World during the battle between Myotismon and WereGarurumon, in which he forces the former to retreat in a seeming moment of victory when he joins the battle.

Angemon is a very powerful Champion Digimon - his primary attack, the Hand of Fate (Japanese: Heaven’s Knuckle) is very effective against inherently evil Virus-type Digimon of the Champion and Ultimate levels such as Devimon (although when Devimon was empowered with several black gears, a suicidal digivice-augmented Hand of Fate was required) and Myotismon. Even Myotismon (an Ultimate level Digimon) was unable to dissipate it, (he had been able to dissipate Ultimate-level attacks from the other Digidestined’s Digimon) and Phantomon (another Ultimate Digimon) was completely destroyed by just a glancing blow. Furthermore, in the Digimon Adventure 02 movie, Diaboromon Strikes Back, he and Angewomon were successful in holding back Diaboromon, a Mega level, Omnimon impaled Diaboromon before he appeared in the Real World as Armageddemon. Angemon is unable to defeat Mega level digimon - namely the Dark Masters (although he was able to hold off Piedmon briefly), VenomMyotismon and BlackWarGreymon - nor Ultimate level Digimon who are not inherently evil or are “fake” digimon made from control spires by Arukenimon (curiously, despite the darkness inherent in the spires themselves), his attacks useless or nearly so against them.

He appeared during Digimon Hurricane Landing!!/Transcendent Evolution!! The Golden Digimentals|Transcendent Evolution!! The Golden Digimentals, Angemon and Angewomon appeared to fight Cherubimon. Later on, he Digivolved to Seraphimon to release the Golden Digi-Eggs.

Angemon is Patamon’s Champion digivolution in both Digimon Tamers: Brave Tamer and Digimon Tamers: Digimon Medley.

Although Angemon is only a Champion level Digimon, his power is equivalent to those of typical Ultimate level Digimon.

Attacks

  • Hand of Fate (Heaven’s Knuckle): Angemon fires a beam of highly potent sacred energy from his fist, most powerful against purest evil.
  • Angel Rod (Hot Rod): A strike using the staff he carries.
  • Angel Staff (Holy Staff): Spins his staff to block incoming attacks.
  • Angel’s Requiem (God Typhoon): Spins his staff to create a whirlwind, repelling nearby enemies.

Note:

  • Angemon is the narrator for the remainder of Digimon Adventure, starting from the second-half of The Story of the Eighth Child (The Myotismon Saga). Perhaps ironically, it is also worth noting Tom Wyner (the voice actor of Devimon) was the narrator of Digimon Adventure 02.

MagnaAngemon

HolyAngemon (ホーリーエンジェモン MagnaAngemon?)

MagnaAngemon (HolyAngemon in the original Japanese) is Patamon’s natural Ultimate form. He carries the sword Excalibur, which allows him to open the Gate of Destiny(Japanese: Heaven’s Gate). Although he is classified as an Ultimate, the extent of his power is equivalent to that of a Mega level digimon. He is able to fight effectively with inherently evil virus-type digimon such as Piedmon, and conceivably VenomMyotismon. In Digimon Adventure-Adventure 02, he is voiced by Dave Mallow (US) and Miwa Matsumoto (Japan).

MagnaAngemon first appears in the episode ‘Piedmon’s Last Jest’ towards the end of Digimon Adventure. Piedmon, the last of the Dark Masters, had been able to turn almost all the DigiDestined children and their Digimon into key chains (besides T.K & Kari; Mimi was away at the time, so she was safe also). Patamon digivolved to Angemon and joined the fight, but was easily defeated by Piedmon. After seeing T.K.’s willingness to never give up his crest of Hope finally began to glow, and Angemon finally digivolved into MagnaAngemon. Using the Magna Antidote(Japanese: Holy Disinfection) ability, MagnaAngemon was able to restore all the DigiDestined and their Digimon. MagnaAngemon then helped WarGreymon and MetalGarurumon defeat Piedmon by using the powerful “Gate of Destiny” attack.

MagnaAngemon makes brief appearances in Digimon Adventure 02. Angemon uses the power of one of the Destiny Stones to digivolve into MagnaAngemon and fight the nearly invincible BlackWarGreymon. Despite being only an Ultimate level Digimon, curiously MagnaAngemon was able to fight evenly with the Mega level BlackWarGreymon and almost banished him into the Gate of Destiny (despite the fact Angemon was unable to spar with Ultimates conceived from Control Spires and his attack had no effect against the one Paildramon slew). MagnaAngemon’s capacity as an Ultimate Digimon is similar to how his Champion form, Angemon, is strong enough to match or even overwhelm most Ultimates in Digimon Adventure. MagnaAngemon also appears during the World Tour Arc where he teams up with Metalgreymon and Kiwimon to fight Mamemon, BigMamemon, MetalMamemon and Giromon where Tai and T.K. sent them back to the Digital world. MagnaAngemon also appears to fight Skullsatamon, but is overwhelmed by the latter’s rapid attacks and relents his power to Imperialdramon, the latter destroying SkullSatamon upon changing into Fighter Mode. It is unconfirmed whether Patamon loses the ability to reach his ultimate form after transferring his power to Imperialdramon, as the last time he appears is when T.K. helps Patamon digivolve into his three forms: Angemon, Pegasusmon and MagnaAngemon, where they all attack Malomyotismon, but then vanish when they cross into the Digital World. This is either due to the powers of the dimensions to which the digidestined are sent, or Patamon may still have the ability to reach the ultimate level (further evidence to support this theory may possibly be found in the fourth Digimon Movie, where several of the original Digidestined’s partners digivolve to levels that required the power of a digicore, suggesting the ability remains). He is never seen in the movies in either series save when Angemon warp digivolves and he is briefly shown before Seraphimon is complete.

Attacks

  • Gate of Destiny (Heaven’s Gate): MagnaAngemon creates a large portal that sucks in the data from enemy Digimon. MagnaAngemon can also unleash an aurora beam when standing behind it.
  • Magna Antidote (Holy Disinfection): An all-purpose healing ability used to restore the Digidestined and their Digimon from their Keychained forms.
  • Holy Sword/Shield (Excalibur): A strike, or block from MagnaAngemon’s sword, powerful enough to repel a Mega-Level Digimon.
  • Aurora Beam (Magna Beam): A beam of light unleashed from behind MagnaAngemon’s Gate of Destiny.

Pegasusmon

Pegasusmon (ペガスモン Pegasumon?, Pegasmon)

Pegasusmon, the “Flying/Galloping Hope” (or “the hope that gallops across the skies” in Japan), is the form Patamon becomes when he Armor Digivolves using the Digi-Egg of Hope. In Japanese, he’s called Pegasmon. In Digimon Adventure-Adventure 02, he is voiced by Dave Mallow(US) and Miwa Matsumoto (Japan).

Patamon first became Pegasusmon when the Digi-Egg of Hope was found. Patamon and his partner T.K., along with Kari and Gatomon had ended up in a cave after escaping from attacking Tyrannomon. T.K. managed to lift the Digi-Egg and evoked its power, allowing Patamon to Armor Digivolve to Pegasusmon.

After Ken renounced his evil persona, Pegasusmon was no longer needed as Patamon could now Digivolve naturally. Pegasusmon was used as a means of transportation around the Digital World, and appeared one last time during the battle with MaloMyotismon.

Its name comes from Pegasus, the flying horse.

Attacks

  • Star Shower (Shooting Star): Pegasusmon shoots a cluster of stars from his wings.
  • Equus Beam (Silver Blaze): Shoots a green beam from his forehead.
  • Mane Wind (Needle Rain): Pegasusmon sends out a shower of needles from his mane.
  • Golden Noose (Sanctuary Bind): Pegasusmon partners with Nefertimon to bind enemies with a rope of golden light. One end of the light comes from Pegasusmon’s “Boots” and the other end comes from the “Boots” Nefertimon wears.

Shakkoumon

Shakkoumon (シャッコウモン?)

Shakkoumon is an Ultimate Level Mutant digimon who is the DNA Digivolved form of Angemon and Ankylomon, combining the features and armor attributes of a Dino-type Digimon with the powers of an Angel type. Its form and name are based around the Shakōkidogū. In Digimon Adventure-Adventure 02, he is voiced by Dave Mallow and Robert Axelrod (US), and Miwa Matsumoto and Megumi Urawa (Japan).

Shakkoumon was first formed when the DigiDestined were about to battle BlackWarGreymon in an effort to protect the very last Destiny Stone in episode 36. Both Cody Hida and T.K. knew they could not let the artificial Digimon destroy everyone, despite BlackWarGreymon’s reasons. Their Digimon partners, Angemon and Ankylomon were able to DNA digivolve at that point, forming Shakkoumon, who teamed up with Paildramon and Silphymon to fight BlackWarGreymon.

Attacks

  • Justice Beam/Harmonious Spirit (アラミタマ Aramitama [1]): Shakkoumon shoots reddish-orange beams out of his eyes.
  • Kachina Bombs/Ruling Spirit/Clay Bombs (ニギミタマ Nigimitama [2]): A hole around his waist opens up to launch exploding clay disks at enemies.
  • Heaven’s Ray: Shakkoumon absorbs data energy from nearby computers or other technology and uses it to fire a beam from his chest.

Seraphimon

Seraphimon (セラフィモン Serafimon?)

Seraphimon is Patamon’s Mega form. Seraphimon is an extremely strong digimon. It has a very high level of holy power which can be strong enough to defeat any evil digimon. The name Seraphimon comes from the word Seraph (plural Seraphim) which is a rank of angel. In Digimon Adventure-Adventure 02, he is voiced by Jamieson Price (US) and Nobuyuki Hiyama (Japan).

Seraphimon only appears in the Digimon Adventure 02 movie The Golden Digimentals. In this movie, Angemon fights against the evil Digimon Cherubimon. During the battle, Angemon and Angewomon Digivolve into their Mega forms in order to release the Golden Digieggs for Veemon and Terriermon to armor digivolve into Magnamon and Rapidmon, after which they defeat Cherubimon as Seraphimon de-digivolves into Patamon with Gatomon. As such, this form is never shown in the main anime series, not even when Patamon digivolves into all of his forms to combat MaloMyotismon. However, Seraphimon does make an appearance on digimon frontier as one of the divines whom Mecurymon kills to retrieve his data.

Attacks

  • Strike of the Seven Stars (Seven Heavens): Seraphimon fires seven great orbs of holy energy.
  • Hallowed Knuckle (Divine Breaker): Seraphimon calls down a powerful bolt of lightning.
  • Hallowed Ascension (Hallow Ascension): Seraphimon discharges a close range electric energy shock from his wings.

Tailmon: The Heaven’s Princess Digimon

Gatomon is a Digimon creature from the Japanese Digimon media franchise that comprises anime, manga, toys, video games, trading card games and other media. In the Japanese version, she is known as “Tailmon.

“Gatomon” is the name that all members of this particular Digimon species share. There are several different Gatomon that appear in various Digimon anime and manga series.

The most well-known appearance of Gatomon is in the Digimon Adventure and Digimon Adventure 02 anime as the partner of Kari Kamiya.

The Gatomon of Digimon Adventure/02 also appears in all the Digimon Adventure/02 related movies.

A different Salamon appears in Digimon Frontier as what has hatched from Ophanimon’s digi-egg.

Gatomon is a main character in Digimon Adventure and Digimon Adventure 02, as well as the movies Digimon Adventure (The Movie), Our War Game!, The Golden Digimentals and Diaboromon Strikes Back.

Gatomon first appeared in Digimon Adventure as a malicious Digimon working for Myotismon. As a Digi-Egg, Nyaromon had been separated from the other seven Chosen Digimon. When she later digivolved into Salamon, Myotismon took her under his wing and she receives brutal beatings whenever she scowls at him. Salamon eventually naturally Digivolved into Gatomon and became one of Myotismon’s lieutenants in his army of Digimon. During this time, she gained a rival in one of his other minions, Demidevimon, as the two competed for their master’s favour. Her only friend was Wizardmon, a Digimon who Gatomon had once helped and vowed to return the favor.

Gatomon accompanied Myotismon and his army in the assault on the Real World in the search of the Eighth Child, the predestined eighth member of the DigiDestined, who Myotismon was determined to destroy. Thanks to Wizardmon, Gatomon realized that she was in fact the chosen partner Digimon for the eighth member, Kari Kamiya. However, Myotismon also discovered this and captured Gatomon and used her to identify Kari. When Gatomon refused, Kari willingly gave herself up to stop the bloodshed, despite the protests of Gatomon and the other DigiDestined.

The DigiDestined and their Digimon, along with Wizardmon, fought Myotismon to save Kari. During the battle, Wizardmon sacrificed himself for Kari. Gatomon was devastated by Wizardmon’s death, and Digivolved into Angewomon to fight Myotismon. By absorbing the power of the other Digimon into one of her arrows, Angewomon had apparently destroyed Myotismon. However, Myotismon’s entity endured and he became VenomMyotismon. After the following battle Gatomon accompanied Kari and the other DigiDestined back to the Digital World to fight the Dark Masters.

Gatomon returned as a main character in the second Digimon season, Digimon Adventure 02. Three years had passed since the adventures of the original DigiDestined, and now, a human calling himself the Digimon Emperor was conquering the Digital World and enslaving the Digimon. Gatomon was reunited with Kari but had lost her Tail Ring while escaping a Unimon under the control of a Dark Ring. Without the Tail Ring’s holy power, Gatomon’s power was greatly reduced to roughly that of a Rookie level Digimon.

In the last episode of the series, Gennai returns the missing Tail Ring to Gatomon. Apparently it was found by the forces of good. Gennai explains that the Ring served as a means to contain the dark energy of the Digimon Emperor’s fortress, and that its power was what allowed DNA Digivolution to take place.

Attacks

  • Lightning Paw (Cat Punch): A lightning-fast punch
  • Cat’s Eye Hypnotism (Cat’s Eye): An attack that allows Gatomon to confuse and/or paralyze the opponent.
  • Tail guard : By use of her tail ring she block attacks.

Other forms

The name “Gatomon” refers to only the Champion form of this Digimon. Throughout the series, Gatomon gains the ability to Digivolve into a number of more powerful forms (each with a different name). Unlike the rest of the DigiDestined Digimon, the Champion form is the most common and preferred form for Gatomon. A higher amount of energy is required to stay in a higher form.

Nyaromon

Nyaromon (ニャロモン)

Nyaromon is Gatomon’s In-Training form. The name “Nyaromon” comes from the word “nyaa”, the Japanese onomatopoeia for the sound that cats make.

The first and only time Nyaromon is seen is in Digimon Adventure, during the flashback that shows a Nyaromon, sitting in a tree, waiting for someone. This someone would be Kari, as Gatomon would later find.

Attacks

  • Tail Whip (Fox Tail): Smacks enemies with her tail.
  • Bubble Blow (Acid Bubbles): Nyaromon fires bubbles from her mouth.

Salamon

.

Salamon (プロットモン Plotmon)

Salamon (Plotmon in the Japanese version) is Gatomon’s Rookie form. According to an interview with the English dub producer, Terri-Lei O’Malley, Salamon was named after her pet cat. Coincidentally, Salamon’s name is similar to the Malay word “salak” which means barking. In Japanese, she’s called Plotmon. Salamon tends to appear when Gatomon is too exhausted after a fight to maintain the Champion form, such as when she fired her arrow to assist Tai and Agumon in their fight against VenomMyotismon, allowing him to Warp Digivolve into Wargreymon. She appears for the first time in Digimon Adventure in a flashback about how Gatomon met Myotismon. In Digimon Adventure 02, Salamon appears again when Silphymon De-Digivolves prior to absorbing the power bestowed by Azulongmon’s digicores.

Strangely, Salamon’s appearance and attacks are based on a dog, while her other forms are based on a cat.

Attacks

  • Puppy Howling: A shrill howl used to distract opponents
  • Petit Punch: Salamon uses her hind feet to push an opponent over
  • Sledge Dash: Tackles the opponent

Angewomon

Angewomon (エンジェウーモン)

Angewomon is Gatomon’s natural Ultimate form. Angewomon first appeared in the episode ‘Wizardmon’s Gift’, during the final battle against Myotismon in Digimon Adventure. The sacrifice of Wizardmon and Kari’s mourning activated the Crest of Light, allowing Gatomon to Digivolve into Angewomon. She then used her Heaven’s Charm and Celestial Arrow to defeat him. Angewomon was also a powerful ally in the fight against VenomMyotismon, the Dark Masters and Apocalymon. She also got into a cat fight with her rival LadyDevimon. This rivalry was on a more personal, feminine level, and also took place again with another of the species, though it is unconfirmed whether this one in 02 was the same Digimon she’d killed before. Like Angemon, Angewomon is considerably more powerful than other ultimate level digimon as it was due to her powers that Myotismon was defeated; she was able to paralyze Myotismon and deliver the finishing touch.

Angewomon resembles a cross between an angel and a valkyrie because of her winged helmet, and is also the female counterpart of Angemon but higher in rank because of her eight wings, which when folded resemble a cape.

After Kari used the power from the Crest of Light to free the Sovereigns, Gatomon supposedly lost the power to become Angewomon; however she was able to digivolve into Angewomon to save Kari and T.K. while they battled the Digimon Emperor by the Dark Ocean (this was probably because of the positive energy released when Pegasusmon knocked down the Control Spire in the lighthouse). Three years after releasing the Sovereigns, in Digimon Adventure 02, Gatomon and the other older Digi-Destined Digimon had their powers restored by one of Azulongmon’s DigiCores. This allowed Gatomon to once again assume her Ultimate form. She appears in both Digimon 02’s movies, digivolving into Magnadramon, her mega form, to release the Golden Digieggs with Seraphimon, Angemon’s mega form, and again with Angemon to assist Omnimon in defeating Diaboromon, in the Japanese version of the movie.

Attacks

  • Celestial Arrow(Holy Arrow): Creates an arrow that strikes her enemy.
  • Heaven’s Charge(Heaven’s charm): Creates a cross like shape that acts as a shield and an attack.
  • Heaven’s Charm (Saint Air): Creates a ring of energy force that paralyzes her enemies and restores her allies, who can then lend their power to her.
  • Divine Kick(Heavens Kick): Angewomon jumps and kicks the enemy with supreme focus and agility.
  • Heel of Justice(Holy Heel): Angewomon charges all of her energy into her feet and with extreme focus, agility, balance, concentration, and strength she carefully pushes herself toward the enemy with great force and usually K.O. the opponent.

Nefertimon

Nefertimon (ネフェルティモン)

Nefertimon, the “Angel of Light” (or “the Light of Smiles” in the original Japanese), is the form that Gatomon takes when she Armor Digivolves using the Digi-Egg of Light. Her name is derived from the ancient Egyptian queen, Nefertiti.

Gatomon first became Nefertimon on the day the Digi-Egg of Light was found. Gatomon, Kari, T.K. and Patamon had ended up in a cave after escaping some Dark-Ringed Tyrannomon. Kari managed to lift the Digi-Egg and unleashed its power, allowing Gatomon to Armor Digivolve to Nefertimon. After Ken renounced his evil persona, Nefertimon was no longer needed as Gatomon and the other older Digi-Destined Digimon had their powers restored by one of Azulongmon’s DigiCores. This allowed Gatomon to once again assume her Ultimate form. Nefertimon was used as a means of transportation around the Digital World.

This form resembles a winged version of the Great Sphinx. It is also the only Armor Digivolution of a Champion Level Digimon because gatomon lost her tail ring in the beginning of the season she was reduced to a rookie.

Attacks

  • Rosetta Stone: She fires a stone tablet that appears out of the pink beam which erupts from her necklace.
  • Queen’s Paw (Nile Jewelry): Gems are fired from Nefertimon’s paws.
  • Cat’s Eye Beam (Curse of the queen):A pink beam of light is fired out of the snake’s eyes which is on her crown.
  • Golden Noose (Sanctuary Bind): Nefertimon partners with Pegasusmon to bind enemies with a rope of golden light.

Silphymon

Silphymon (シルフィーモン)

Silphymon is an Ultimate level Digimon who is the DNA Digivolved form of Gatomon and Aquilamon, combining the features and attributes of a Bird type Digimon with that of Beast type. Some of its recognizable parts are Gatomon’s ears, and Aquilamon’s wing-top feathers on the arms and legs.

It first formed when Yolei, Kari and Ken were trapped within the Dark Ocean and attacked by a Blossomon created by Arukenimon. Kari was too frightened to move but Yolei managed to snap her out of it and told her that as long they were friends, Kari was safe. At that moment, the hearts of Yolei and Kari were beating as one, causing their Digimon partners to merge. The newly formed Silphymon managed to destroy Blossomon and get everyone back into the Digital World. Silphymon eventually became essential in fighting the likes of Arukenimon, Mummymon and BlackWarGreymon. Silphymon also defeated Lady Devimon, Angewomon’s rival. It should be noted that, despite Gatomon’s reduced power level from losing her Tail Ring, Silphymon was still as strong as any other Ultimate level Digimon. After Silphymon de-digivolves, Gatomon returnes to Salamon.

Attacks

  • Static Force (Top Gun): Creates an energy ball that is fired from the hands at the opponent.
  • Astra Laser (Dual Sonic): A duplicate of Silphymon’s body is created using energy and fired on the opponent.

Magnadramon

Magnadramon (ホーリードラモン Holydramon)

Magnadramon is Gatomon’s Mega form, a serpentine dragon with ten wings, a lion-like muzzle and two horns. The name “Magnadramon” is derived from the words Magna meaning “large” or “great” and Dra for “dragon“. It is one of the great four dragons.

Magnadramon (Japanese: Holydramon) appears in the Digimon Adventure 02 movie The Golden Digimentals. In this movie, Angewomon fights the evil Digimon Cherubimon. During the battle, Angewomon and Angemon Digivolve into their Mega forms to release the Golden Digi-Eggs. This form was never actually shown in the series.

Attacks

  • Fire Tornado (Holy Flame): A spiraling flame is shot from the mouth.
  • Dragon Fire (Apocalypse): Magnadramon calls down energy bolts from the heavens to strike her opponents.
  • Hermit Fog: Magnadramon sprays forth a mist from her mouth that corrodes anything that it touches.

Gabumon: The Royal Tiger Digimon

March 9, 2010

Gabumon is a yellow-skinned reptile-like Digimon about 2½ feet tall, although the 10 or so inch long horn atop his head increases his height. This horn, yellow just like his skin, has markings reminiscent of electric circuitry. His tail is normally held in a semi-erect position and has regularly-spaced bumps on its top. While most of his back is normally covered by his fur pelt, it can be assumed that these bumps continue up to the top of his head. Gabumon’s belly is sky blue, with symmetric pink motifs. Gabumon’s eyes are red and, although it is covered up, his muzzle is lizard-like. Most of Gabumon’s body is covered by a pale blue dog-like pelt with royal blue tiger-like markings, which are perfectly symmetric. Additional black markings surround the eyeholes. This is actually the pelt of a Garurumon, albeit a small one. Gabumon’s horn goes through a hole at the top of the pelt’s head. Eight teeth are also attached to each side of pelt’s muzzle, and three violet claws to the end of each limb. Handles are present inside the forelimbs; Gabumon’s hands are usually wrapped around them to keep the pelt in place. (The visible presence of these handles is erratic during the series, but Gabumon’s hands are almost always drawn curled around something.) He can easily take off the pelt as seen in Subzero Ice Punch!, but he is never seen without his fur. Gabumon’s name is probably derived from gabugabu, a Japanese onomatopoeia for guzzling.

Gabumon first meets Matt in the form of Tsunomon. The two meet as soon as Matt arrives in the Digital World. Tsunomon soon Digivolves into Gabumon to protect Matt against an attacking Kuwagamon and since then Gabumon has been the preferred form. Gabumon later Digivolves into several other, increasingly powerful forms.

Gabumon has a mellow and rather “cool” attitude toward life. He is seen to be a bit shy, for he made sure no one was looking at him before he removed his pelt in “Subzero Ice Punch”, to keep Matt warm when he had hypothermia. He loyally follows Matt, even when Matt had been tricked by Cherrymon into fighting against Tai and the other Digi-Destined. Eventually, he was able to convince his partner to rejoin the other Digi-Destined, after promising him that they would be “friends for life”.

Gabumon appears again in the sequel season Digimon Adventure 02 to help the newer Digi-Destined against the Digimon Emperor. Later on, Gabumon travels into the real world along with the other first generation Chosen Digimon to help fight the other Digimon who had entered the real world. Gabumon also plays a part in the Digimon Adventure movies, where he and Agumon fused to become Omnimon in order to fight against the evil Diaboromon.

Attacks

  • Blue Blaster (Petit Fire): Gabumon releases a stream of blue flames from his mouth.
  • Horn Attack (Little Horn): Gabumon attacks with the horn on his head.

  Other forms

The name “Gabumon” refers only to the Rookie form of this Digimon. Throughout the series, Gabumon gains the ability to Digivolve into a number of more powerful forms, each with a different name and special attack. However, the Rookie level is his preferred form and the one he spends most of his time in, due to the amount of energy required to stay in a higher form.

Punimon

Punimon (プニモン)

Punimon is Gabumon’s Fresh form. Punimon is a red flat blob with three cylinder-shaped horns on the top of his head. His mouth is not visible (execpt when sad or happy), and his eyes are ellipse-shaped. The name “Punimon” comes from the Japanese word “punipuni“, meaning “stretchy” or puny meaning weak being in the fresh stage.

He appears once in Digimon Adventure during a flashback of when the Digi-Eggs first hatched on File Island in the episode “DigiBaby Boom“.

Attacks

  • Bubble Blow (Acid Bubbles): Fires harmless pink bubbles from his mouth.

Tsunomon

Tsunomon (ツノモン)

Tsunomon is the In-Training form of Gabumon. Tsunomon is a round digimon with a sharp metallic horn on its head. It has orange fur, orange eyes, and a curvy W smile. His name comes from the Japanese word “tsuno“, meaning “horn”.

Matt’s partner Gabumon first appeared to him on “And So It Begins” in the form of Tsunomon. Tsunomon Digivolved to Gabumon during the fight against the DigiDestined’s first opponent - Kuwagamon. From then on, Gabumon only reverted to Tsunomon after De-Digivolving from WereGarurumon or MetalGarurumon.

Attacks

  • Bubble Blow (Acid Bubbles): Tsunomon fires harmless pink bubbles from his mouth.

Garurumon

Garurumon (ガルルモン)

Garurumon is a large, wolf-like beast with white fur and dark blue stripes. It is said that Garurumon’s fur is stronger than diamond. He is Gabumon’s Champion form. Gabumon first Digivolved to Garurumon in the episode “Garurumon” in order to protect his partner Matt from a Seadramon. He appears many times during the File Island arc to help fight against Andromon, Mojyamon and later, Devimon. His name comes from ‘Garuru” the Japanese word for the sound of a growl.

Garurumon appears again in Digimon Adventure 02 in a fight to help free Agumon from the Emperor’s control. He also appears during the time the real world was invaded by Digimon. Garurumon fought the Digimon who crashed Matt’s concert and also the Digimon who had appeared in Mexico.

Attacks

  • Howling Blaster (Fox Fire): Garurumon blasts the opponent with blue icy cold flames.

WereGarurumon

WereGarurumon (ワーガルルモン)

WereGarurumon is Gabumon’s Ultimate form. He is modeled after werewolves. Unlike Garurumon, WereGarurumon stands upright and has an anthropomorphic build. He wears a belt across his waist that goes across his upper body and connects to his blue jeans. A ‘glove’ covers one arm and spiked brass knuckles are on one hand. He also wears earrings and bandages on various parts of his body. Unlike most Digimon, he is actually smaller than his previous form.

Gabumon reached this form in “WereGarurumon’s Diner “ when Matt and Joe were forced to work at a Digimon restaurant after falling for DemiDevimon’s schemes. When Matt decided to leave, the owner of the restaurant Digitamamon suddenly attacked T.K. shortly after he showed up. Joe saved T.K., but put his own life in danger, which allowed Matt to realize he needed his friends. This made his crest glow and allowed Garurumon to Digivolve to WereGarurumon and defeated Digitamamon. WereGarurumon appears again in some battles to help fight against Myotismon.

WereGarurumon appears one last time in Digimon Adventure 02, where the Sovereign Azulongmon gave one of his Digi-Cores to the Digi-Destined Digimon. This allowed Gabumon to reach his ultimate form again. WereGarurumon, along with Stingmon, went to Mexico to help the Latin American DigiDestined with their Digimon there.

Attacks

  • Wolf Claw (Kaiser Nail): WereGarurumon slashes his opponents with his powerful claws.
  • Garuru Kick: Throws a powerful kick at his opponent.

MetalGarurumon

MetalGarurumon (メタルガルルモン)

MetalGarurumon is Gabumon’s Mega form. He has mechanized his body completely. His belly is sky blue with Gabumon’s symmetrical pink motifs. His tail has a striking resemblance to Gabumon’s horn with a curved blade attached to the end. He has a pair of beamed wings on his back missile launcher. He has hidden weapons in his back, feet, legs, shoulders, stomach, eyes, and snout. Although he is mechanized he does not lose his previous agility, speed, or alertness. He is capable of flight because of the wings. MetalGarurumon first appears in “Prophecy” when VenomMyotismon terrorized Tokyo. Angemon and Angewomon shot Matt and Tai, with their “Arrows of Hope and Light”, as instructed to by a prophecy. This gave Gabumon and Agumon the power to Warp Digivolve to their mega forms. Together with WarGreymon (Agumon’s Mega form), MetalGarurumon then destroyed their enemy. MetalGarurumon also appears again to fight against the Dark Masters. It was MetalGarurumon who destroyed Puppetmon, and also helped in the fight against Piedmon and Apocalymon. He is an extremely powerful Mega Digimon. MetalGarurumon and his attacks also closely resemble the unrelated Digimon KendoGarurumon.

Attacks

  • Metal Wolf Claw (Cocytus Breath): Fires a blue blast of icy breath from his mouth, which freezes the opponent in an instant.
  • Ice Wolf Claw (Giga Cross Freezer): Launches missiles from the hidden weapons all over his body, causing whatever they hit to freeze.
  • Giga Missile (Garuru Tomahawk): Fires a powerful missile from his chest.
  • Metal Wolf Snout: Fires 4 energy beams from the four laser sites on his snout.

Omnimon

Omnimon (オメガモン Omegamon)

Omnimon is the Mega level Digimon that results when WarGreymon and MetalGarurumon fuse during DNA Digivolution. Though he is not a higher level than his parent Digimon he is stronger than their individual powers combined.

The name “Omnimon” is derived from the Latin “omnis, omne” meaning “all” or “every”. His Japanese name, “Omegamon“, derives from the “omega“, the last letter of the Greek alphabet.

After wreaking havoc in the Real World all of them fused to form Armageddemon, who Omnimon fought but could not defeat.

Attacks

  • Transcendent Sword (Grey Sword): Slashes enemies with the sword from his left hand (WarGreymon’s mouth).
  • Supreme Cannon (Garuru Cannon): Shoots energy balls with the cannon from his right hand (MetalGarurumon’s mouth).
  • Omni Blaster (Omega Blast): Charges fire energy from both of his hands. This is his most powerful attack.

Gomamon: The Ultra Water Digimon

Gomamon looks like a white furry seal-like creature with no nose and has long ears, purple markings, orange-red mane, long claws, and a long tail. The warm fur on his body allows him to live on very cold shores. Gomamon is reliable but he takes life a lot easier, and he tends to meddle in any affair he comes across. When he gets angry, his red hair raises and he attacks with his claws which can shatter thick ice with a single blow. He can speak to and command fishes.

The name “Gomamon” refers only to the Rookie form of this Digimon. Throughout the series, Gomamon gains the ability to Digivolve into a number of more powerful forms, each with a different name and special attack. However, the Rookie level is his preferred form and the one he spends most of his time in, due to the amount of energy required to stay in a higher form.

Other Forms

  • Marching Fishes: Gomamon summons his colorful fish friends to attack the enemy.

Pitimon

Pitimon (Pichimon) (ピチモン)

Attacks

  • Bubble Blow: Fires bubbles from his mouth.

Bukamon

Bukamon(Bukamon) (ブカモン)

Bukamon is the In-Training form of Gomamon. Its Japanese name is Bukamon, which comes from the Japanese word “pukapuka”, which describes the sound of something floating. In Malay, “buka” means open in English.

Joe met his partner Bukamon when he first came to the Digital World. Bukamon Digivolved to Gomamon to protect Joe from Kuwagamon. After this, Gomamon only reverted to its In-Training form when De-Digivolving from Zudomon.

Attacks

  • Bubble Blow: Fires bubbles from his mouth.

Ikkakumon

Ikkakumon (イッカクモン)

Gomamon first Digivolved to Ikkakumon to protect Joe from the Black-Gear-infected Unimon. Since then, Ikkakumon has fought various enemies like Devimon, Etemon and the henchmen of Myotismon. Other than being used for battle, Ikkakumon was also used as a ferry for travelling across the water.

When the Digimon Emperor was conquering the Digital World, Gomamon was among the old generation Digimon to help the new gang out, appearing four times as Ikkakumon to fight Ebidramon, another MegaSeadramon, and finally BlackWarGreymon.

Attacks

  • Harpoon Torpedo (Harpoon Vulcan): Fires his horn which disassembles into a missile.

Zudomon

In Digimon Adventure-Adventure 02, he is voiced by Michael Sorich (US) and Junko Takeuchi (Japan).

Zudomon first debuted on August 3, 1999 when Myotismon isolated Odaiba from the rest of Tokyo so that his henchmen could gather the populace. On route to Odaiba via Tokyo Bay, Joe, T.K. and their Digimon encountered MegaSeadramon while passing Rainbow Bridge. It was Joe’s need to put T.K.’s well-being ahead of his own that caused his crest to glow and Ikkakumon to Digivolve to Zudomon, who managed to defeat MegaSeadramon, rescue Wizardmon and get involved in the final battle with Myotismon himself. Zudomon was also a needed ally in the fight against the Dark Masters, MetalEtemon and Apocalymon.

When Joe used the crest power to free the Sovereigns, Gomamon lost the power to become Zudomon. That was until three years later, when, on Christmas Day, Gomamon and the other old generation Digimon had that power restored to them by one of the DigiCores of Azulongmon. Zudomon, with Submarimon and their human partners, went to Sydney to help the Australian and Pacific DigiDestined with the chaos caused by the aquatic Digimon. But during the fight against SkullSatamon of the Daemon Corps, Zudomon, after he and the other Ultimates were defeated, regressed due to the strain of his stay in the Real World for so long.

Palmon: The Ultimate Plant Digimon

March 8, 2010

Palmon is a Digimon creature from the Japanese Digimon media franchise that comprises anime, manga, toys, video games, trading card games and other media.

“Palmon” is the name that all members of this particular Digimon species share. There are several different Palmon that appear in various Digimon anime and manga series. The name “Palmon” comes from Palm, a type of plant.

The most well-known appearance of Palmon is in the Digimon Adventure anime as the partner of Mimi Tachikawa, and is the subject of the rest of this article.

This Palmon also appears in the sequel series Digimon Adventure 02 and all the Digimon Adventure/02 related movies.

Superscript text==Appearance== Palmon is a plant-like creature which has light green skin with purple-tipped claws. She has a pink flower with a yellow center on her head. She has a small tail and small bumps lining her back.

Tanemon first digivolved to Palmon to protect Mimi from Kuwagamon. She later digivolved to Togemon when the Black-Gear-infected Monzaemon attacked them in Toy Town. Since then, she and Mimi have been good friends but Palmon often tries to make Mimi appreciate what she has and to deal with what life gave her. When the DigiDestined returned to the Real World to halt the plans of Myotismon, on August 3, she digivolved to Lillymon when Mimi shed sincere tears for the well-being of her father when he tried to trip DarkTyrannomon in vain. Because of this new-found power, Lillymon became a needed ally in the battles against Myotismon, the Dark Masters and Apocalymon. After Piedmon and Apocalymon were defeated, the kids had to leave the Digital World. Palmon ran away into the forest, not wanting to see Mimi again - because if she did, she would have to say goodbye. As the trolley the kids were leaving in moved off, Palmon ran out of the woods, calling to Mimi, apologizing and waving goodbye.

One year after their adventure, Mimi and Palmon were reunited, in order for Mimi gave up her Crests power to free the Sovereigns. As a result, Palmon lost the power to become Lillymon. Two years later, when the Digimon Emperor was conquering the Digital World, Palmon was amongst the old generation Digimon to help the new DigiDestined. One such event was when Yolei, Hawkmon and Mimi were lost and chased by a Dark Ringed group of Gekomon and Otamamon in the Night Forest, with Palmon saving them. She and Mimi introduced the new DigiDestined to American DigiDestined Michael and his partner, Betamon, too. It was also Palmon who revealed that the strange Digimon attacking for no reason were artificial beings created from Control Spires. She also came to the Real World on Christmas Eve and on Christmas Day, she helped to gather the Digimon who appeared in America along with Control Spires, receiving a power boost from one of the DigiCores of Azulongmon, restoring her ability to Digivolve to Ultimate. She was later seen sealing the Hikarigaoka Gate and in the final battle against MaloMyotismon.

Her final appearance was in a joke ending for Michi e no Armor Shinka. Palmon uses the Digiegg of Sincerity to become “CheerGirlmon” exclaiming a cheer “L-O-V-E LOVELY LOVELY MIMI”. Note: Lalamon and Palmon’s Mega form are the same digimon (Rosemon).

Attacks

  • Poison Ivy: Palmon’s claws become long and whip like. While her claws are like this, she can use them to capture and attack her enemies and even swing to safety.

Other forms

The name “Palmon” refers only to the Rookie form of this Digimon. Throughout the series, Palmon gains the ability to Digivolve into a number of more powerful forms, each with a different name and special attack. However, the Rookie level is her preferred form and the one she spends most of her time in, due to the amount of energy required to stay in a higher form.

Palmon has to disguise at one point to avoid being recognised by a Nanimon. She puts on a wig and calls herself ReggaePalmon and succeeds in fooling him.

Yuramon

Yuramon (ユラモン)

Yuramon is Palmon’s Fresh form, an infant Digimon. The name “Yuramon” comes from the Japanese word “yurayura,” a descriptive word meaning ’swaying’ or ’shaking’.

Yuramon is a small Digimon with grayish hair covering her body, black eyes, and two antennas on the top of her head. Her mouth is covered by her hair and is not visible unless it is opened.

She appears once in Digimon Adventure during a flashback where she is seen hatching from Palmon’s Digi-Egg.[1] (These Digi-eggs are the eggs that all Digimon hatch from - a different type of Digi-Egg can be used to trigger Armor Digivolution.)

Attacks

  • Bubble Blow: Fires harmless pink bubbles from her mouth. Many Digimon of her level share this attack.

Tanemon

Tanemon (タネモン)

Tanemon is Palmon’s In-Training form. Tanemon is a Bulb Digimon whose name comes from “tane”, the Japanese word for seed. She is a white and green, root-shaped Digimon with two leaves sprouting from her head.

Palmon was in this form when she first met her partner, Mimi Tachikawa. After her initial Digivolution to Palmon to help battle a wild Kuwagamon the Rookie level became her preferred form.[2] From then on, Palmon temporarily reverted to Tanemon only when she ran out of energy in a higher level and could not sustain her Rookie form. 25 years later, Mimi’s son has a Tanemon

Attacks

  • Bubble Blow (Acid Bubbles): Fires harmless pink bubbles from her mouth.

Togemon

Togemon (トゲモン)

Togemon is Palmon’s champion form. Togemon is fierce both in her devotion to Mimi and in her anger. This anger fuels her strength in attacks; along with her stubbornness, she is a determined Digimon who will never give up the fight. Togemon appears as a giant, Haniwa-faced cactus with a tuft of orange hair and wears a pair of boxing gloves. In Digimon Adventure-Adventure 02, she is voiced by Mari Devon (US).

Togemon first appeared in the episode ‘Togemon In Toy Town’ to fight Monzaemon and drove the Black Gear out of him. She later did the same for Centarumon and helped to fight Devimon. Other battles Togemon was in include fights against minions of Etemon, Myotismon and the Dark Masters.

In Digimon Adventure 02 When Halsemon sent the Roachmon Brothers crashing into the Control Spire located in the Night Forest with the help of Mimi blinding them with a spotlight, the damage to the Control Spire allowed Palmon to become Togemon and fight the Roachmon before Halsemon destroyed the Control Spire. Togemon told Mimi that she would stay and protect the Night Forest. Later on, Palmon Digivolved to Togemon and broke the Dark Spiral off of Gorillamon after he was worn down by Michael’s Betamon in the form of Seadramon. Togemon was briefly seen as Palmon Digivolved all the way to Lillymon.

Togemon’s name comes from “toge” the Japanese word for “thorn”.

Attacks

  • Needle Spray (Chikku Chikku Bang Bang): Togemon shoots millions of cactus spines out of her body which damage her foes.
  • Light Speed Jabbing (Mach Jab, Fast Jab, Togemon Punch, Coconuts Punch): Punches an enemy with jabs faster than the speed of light.

Lillymon

Lillymon (リリモン Lilimon)

Lillymon is Palmon’s Ultimate form. In Japanese, she’s called Lilimon. She is a flower or plant-based pixie type Digimon. In Digimon Adventure-Adventure 02, she is voiced by Dorothy Elias-Fahn (US), and Shihomi Mizowaki (Japan).

Lillymon first debuted on August 3, 1999, in the episode ‘Flower Power’ when Myotismon isolated Odaiba from the rest of Tokyo so that his henchmen could gather the populace. During the vain attempt to fight back, Mimi’s father almost got himself killed when he used a car to stop DarkTyrannomon. Mimi’s sincere tears caused her crest to glow and Togemon to Digivolve into Lillymon, who tamed DarkTyrannomon. But Myotismon soon appeared. Lillymon put up a fight but was eventually paralyzed by Myotismon’s Nightmare Claw attack, only to be healed by Wizardmon so she could be involved in the final battle with the villain himself. She later gave all her energy to Angewomon’s Heaven’s Charm which later destroyed Myotismon. Lillymon was also a needed ally in the fight against the Dark Masters and Apocalymon.

When Mimi used the crest power to free the Sovereigns, Palmon lost the power to become Lillymon. That was until three years later, on Christmas Day, Palmon and the other old generation Digimon had that power restored to them by one of the DigiCores of Azulongmon. Lillymon, with ExVeemon, Seadramon and the rest of the American DigiDestined, managed to take down a berserk Cherrymon and gather all the Digimon.

Lillymon happens to be the smallest of all the Ultimate Digimon, in Digimon Adventure and displays the utmost bravery.

  • Flower Cannon: Brings both of her hands together which form a large yellow flower, then opens revealing a cannon which fires a blast of green energy that explodes in a shower of flowers upon impact.
  • Flower Wreath: Zips around an enemy and ties them up with a rope of vines and flowers. This attack can counteract Digital viruses and make certain Digimon obey her command.
